Course Description: This course will examine the standard of care and the legal aspects of nursing. Upon successfully completion of this course nurses will be able to describe state statutes and the level of protection offer by the statutes.

OBJECTIVES:
1. The healthcare professional will be able to describe the legislative purpose for the Nurse Practice Act.
2. The healthcare professional will be able to discriminate specific laws and rules related to the practice of nursing and nursing assisting.
3. The healthcare professional will be able to identify the pertinent levels of nursing practice in the State and the general scope of practice of each.
